by Smithsonian Digital Library

Last Thursday, our Associate Director for Digital Serivces, Martin Kalfatovic, joined Maura Marx from the Berkman Center at Harvard University and Maria Pallante, United States Register of Copyrights, on The Kojo Nnamdi Show, a local Washington radio show produced by WAMU 88.5.

The topic of the day’s program was The Digital Public Library of America , a collaboration between Harvard, the Smithsonian, Library of Congress and many others, to digitize and provide access to a vast amount of material and develop a national digital library. Maura Max is Director of the effort and Martin Kalfatovic is Co-chair of the Technical Workstream. Maria Pallante added insight on the copyright implications of such a massive digitization effort.

If you missed this interesting discussion, fear not. Visit the website here and click on the “Listen” icon to hear the archived show.
