Smithsonian Libraries Photography Internship
The Libraries Director’s Office is seeking one unpaid intern to assist with the photography of Smithsonian library, museum, and research center spaces. Intern may also be asked take photos at special events as schedule permits. Intern will work closely with Public Affairs staff to develop professional images which may appear in publications, videos, web sites, and promotional materials.

Smithsonian Libraries Professional Development Internship
Libraries Professional Development internships are paid opportunities at the Smithsonian Institution Libraries, designed for current graduate students interested in working in research and/or museum libraries. A background in life sciences, anthropology, art history, American or cultural studies, American history or library science studies is preferable. Solid research, analytical, computer and writing skills are desired. The program covers specific areas, including special collections and preservation, technical services, digital projects and research, reference and reader services. The Libraries will award up to two paid summer internships each academic year.
Our projects for this year are the following:
- Scientific Publishing and Workflow
- Artists’ Books at the Smithsonian Institution Libraries
- Botany Flora Collection Taxonomic Project, and Foundations for a Knowledge Management System at the Smithsonian Institution
