Communication Design in the collection of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Library

This fall, library intern  Sara Rubinow will investigate collection development for communication design collections. The Library is interested in determining best practices for organizing current holdings and strategies for shaping future acquisitions.

Sara's research aims to identify new avenues for collection growth and establish considerations for preservation and access. She will also explore opportunities for raising the visibility of these materials for everyone from scholars to creative directors, so inspiration will be easily found through the contemporary and historical resources of the Library's collection.

Sara is currently an MSLIS candidate at Pratt Institute in Manhattan. She is also an intern at the Jorge Luis Borges Library at the Cervantes Institute. Her areas of interest include special collections, translation issues in information access, artists' books, and technology. Prior to pursuing her degree at Pratt, Sara worked as an art director and illustrator.
