…The Cooper-Hewitt Museum Library is excited to let you know that almost 30 new large binders of Caldwell photographs have recently been uploaded to the online database. You can now browse thousands of additional andirons, brackets, and chandeliers produced by E. F. Caldwell & Co. New batches of large binders will be continued to be uploaded over the summer months. Once all 142 large binders are up (over 25,000 photographs), we will then start uploading scans of the design drawings (over 10,000). To browse the binders, go to “Search” and click on “Flip through the Caldwell binders”.
Grant funding from METRO made it possible to scan almost 70% of the Caldwell collection. Now additional funds are needed to digitize the remaining 16,000 photographs and drawings and to provide access to more Caldwell projects. You will receive recognition for your donation by having your name included on the website.
Thanks to those of you who attended the Caldwell lecture and reception last February. Over 100 people heard E. F. Caldwell’s great granddaughter, Margaret Caldwell, speak about the family firm and their lighting legacy.
