New on Galaxy of Images … The Pedigree of Man

Observe, discuss.

Ernst Heinrich Philipp August Haeckel, The evolution of man, [1896].

I'm just grateful to be a few branches above the mud-fish, although I'm feeling a little sorry and perplexed about the bad luck of the mud fish, sans hyphen.

Joking aside, Ernst Heinrich Philipp August Haeckel, besides his interest in Charles Darwin and his The Evolution of Man, is responsible for Kunstformen der Natur, [Artforms of Nature], not only important scientifically, but also one of the most beautiful art and design books of his era. The Libraries has multiple copies of this masterwork, including a rare 1899-1904 version in its Joseph F. Cullman 3rd Library of Natural History.
