A Peek Inside A Bicycle Factory

Pope Manufacturing Company, Columbia Bicycles, 1912, Westfield Factory

The bicycle was patented on this day in 1819.

The Libraries has many great images on its Galaxy of Images from the 1912 Pope Manufacturing Company catalog, Columbia Bicycles, but this one, with views of the assembly room, shipping room, and press room is a favorite.

This bicycle catalog is part of the extensive trade literature collection housed in the National Museum of American History Library.
